Why I love this recipe

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that my air fryer is one of my favorite ways to cook. It’s quick and makes almost any food perfectly crispy and delicious. I created this recipe because my family loves french fries, and I love that these fries are simple, healthy and so tasty. Even my picky eater will eat them!

All you need is:

  • 2 large Russet potatoes
  • 1-2 Tbsp avocado oil
  • Sea salt and pepper, to taste

How to make this recipe

  1. Peel potatoes if preferred. Slice into sticks, about the width of your pinky finger.
  2. Fill a bowl with cold water, large enough to cover all your fries. Add fries to water and let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. After 10 minutes, preheat air fryer to 375 F.
  4. Drain the water from the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean dish towel or paper towels.
  5. Toss with 1-2 Tbsp avocado oil, plus salt and pepper to taste.
  6. For best results, add potatoes to air fryer in one layer so they’re not stacked on top of each other.
  7. Cook 10-14 minutes, until potatoes are crispy and brown. Shake a few times during cooking if they are not in one layer.
  8. Serve!
  9. If you are cooking them in batches and want to keep them all warm and toasty, set your oven to 200 and keep fries warm on a baking sheet until ready to serve.

If you don’t have an air fryer:

Bake in oven at 425 F for 20 minutes. Flip fries over and cook for additional 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

Recipe FAQs

  1. Do I have to soak the fries?
    • I highly recommend it! I know sometimes you’re short on time, but this really makes a difference in their crispiness.
  2. Can I use a different type of potato?
    1. I haven’t tried it yet but I bet this would work just as well with sweet potatoes.
  3. Can I use a different type of oil?
    1. Yes, you can use a vegetable oil or light olive oil.

For you

I love my air fryer! You can check out the one I have in my Amazon shop. I didn’t want to get a huge one so that I could store it more easily, but honestly after realizing how much I was using it, I no longer put it back in the cabinet. It has earned a countertop spot!

I cook vegetables in it all the time, I reheat leftovers in the air fryer, and heat any type of frozen food (like chicken nuggets). It doesn’t take much longer than the microwave and comes out way crispier!
